Water Matters

    Water Matters looks at the environment and its water needs, focusing on the Bundala Lagoons, rich in biodiversity and frequented by migratory birds, presently at risk because of changes in water quality. The issue of water pollution through agricultural activity, and IWMI’s wetland mapping initiative are also highlighted.

    This issue of "Water Matters" looks at "Water Scarcity" which is the theme of world water day, on March 22nd 2007. Water Scarcity is becoming a global concern and will affect Sri lanka too in the future. However, with proper management, there are ways of coping with it

    This inaugural issue of "Water Matters" focuses on some of the work that IWMI has carried out in Sri Lanka from 1986 to date, and tries to capture the rationale for its evolving program.
