Integrated Water Management for Agriculture

The Theme continually strengthens the research capacity of partners - particularly in the developing world - in achieving sustainable improvements in water productivity in agriculture targeted at poverty reduction, while ensuring food and environmental security. Options we promote are facilitated by the tools, processes and knowledge collectively developed by the Theme; they enable water managers to respond well to changing needs and expectations often caused by the increasing scarcity of water.

IWMI research under the Theme is aimed at the improved performance of irrigation in the context of integrated water resources management and the sustainable development of rural livelihoods made possible by the new research methodologies, processes and actions developed and duly applied by us.

Complete with a listing of publications produced in the recent past, the 2001 Project Portfolio and the logical framework, the Theme overview outlines IWMI research, Theme objectives, projects outputs and impacts.

Research information of the six resource areas working on different aspects of the Theme 'Water for Agriculture', information on current and completed IWMI projects, publications lists and links, announcements of workshops and conferences, news and other information are organized under these.
