POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
PROJECT LEADER - International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI)

The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) helps reduce poverty, hunger and environmental degradation by enhancing animal agriculture in developing countries, working in partnership with organizations in developing countries. ILRI’s headquarters is in Nairobi, Kenya, with a second principal campus in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
ILRI seeks to recruit a Project Leader as part of its Targeting and Innovations Theme. The Project Leader will lead an inter-disciplinary team of scientists working on issues relating to livestock, poverty, and sustainable livelihoods in the developing world.
Qualifications :

A Ph.D. in a relevant social science such as sociology, anthropology, agricultural economics, institutional economics or related discipline

At least 8 years experience in applied social science or livestock development research in developing countries

Strong analytical skills in poverty and vulnerability analysis, including demonstrated experience in using quantitative and qualitative tools for economic and social analysis

Proven leadership, management and team building skills, and a record of building partnerships.

Demonstrated ability to work in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams

Strong oral and written communication skills demonstrated in publications in peer reviewed journals

Demonstrated success in resource mobilization

Excellent command of English. Knowledge of a second international language would be an advantage
Terms of appointment
Initial appointment is for three years with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon individual performance and the availability of funding. ILRI offers a competitive remuneration package paid in US dollars.
