HEAD OF OPERATIONS, ILRI ADDIS ABABA CAMPUS 
Overall responsibility : The Head of Operations will be responsible for the overall effectiveness and efficiency in provision of administrative services required by the ILRI Programmes and hosted institutions.
Responsibilities:
- Leading the service units ( Finance, Engineering, Transport, Housing, Catering & Conferencing, Procurement & Stores, Liaison & Travel, Security) by evaluating needs and risks, managing the planning process for the various functions/units, ensuring appropriateness of policies, fostering continuous improvement and innovation and interfacing with internal and external stakeholders
- Managing service delivery from the various units by setting standards, ensuring compliance, reviewing processes, seeking feedback from customers, solving problems and managing external providers
- Managing the Operations and Finance teams by clarifying roles and objectives, organizing structures, designing jobs, coaching and mentoring unit managers and managing their individual performance
- Managing material and financial resources, including facilities and assets, by planning long-term needs, managing the operational and capital budgets of the units, approving expenses, ensuring assets are safeguarded and properly utilized.
- Providing support to the Director of Human Resources and the Human Resource Office in Addis Ababa.
- Assisting the DG’s Representative in Ethiopia in his public relations and liaison activities. Act on his behalf in his absence. Advising him on relevant developments.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field (for example Engineering, Finance, Management, Commerce) as a minimum. A Master’s degree(MPA, MBA) is preferred
- Experience in international, multi-cultural settings preferably in Africa.
- Experience in :
- managing service functions
- leading and managing diverse teams
- managing budgets and staff
- managing change processes
- dealing with government counterparts and other external partners
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – verbal and written
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Demonstrated leadership abilities
- Good people management skills
- Innovative problem-solving
- Self-motivated with sound judgment and sensitivity to cultural diversity
- Interest in management information systems
- Awareness and exposure to HR best practice would be desirable

COMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATE
Overall responsibility : The Project Coordinator (SWIHA) is the focal point for the development and management of the goals and objectives of the SWIHA programme within WARDA
Responsibilities:
- To coordinate WorldFish internal newsletter which goes to 300 over staff located in 15 offices in 12 countries;
- To provide backstopping in supporting media relations; and
- To provide backstopping support for organization of materials for WorldFish intranet and websites.
Requirements:
- Highly organized and ambitious;
- Excellent communication skills in English – verbal and written;
- Someone who works effectively without much supervision AND who can work effectively as part of a team;
- Background in journalism, marketing, communications - desirable but not necessary; and
- Someone looking for a career in international communications and is looking for a lucky break to get their foot in the door.
