Agreement Concerning Support for the IWMI Ph.D. Fellowship Program between The International Water Management Institute, Colombo, Sri Lanka And [name Fellowship recipient]

Purpose

This is an agreement between IWMI and [name Fellowship recipient], describing the terms and conditions under which IWMI is offering partial financial support for the Ph.D. program that [name Fellowship recipient] is planning to undertake at [name university].

[name Fellowship recipient] has been accepted to the Ph.D. program at [name university]. IWMI and [name university] have agreed to jointly sponsor [name Fellowship recipient] for the Ph.D. program starting [date]. The research topic, which fits in IWMI's current research agenda, is [title of Ph.D. research project] and a brief research proposal is attached to this agreement.

Conditions

1. The Ph.D. research topic as given in Annexure A contributes to IWMI's research agenda and has been approved by IWMI and [name university]. The subject will not be changed without IWMI's agreement.
2. The terms and conditions under which IWMI provides the support to [name Fellowship recipient] are described in the document "Guidelines IWMI Ph.D. Fellowships" which is attached as Annexure B and which will be considered an integral part of this agreement.
3. [name fellowship recipient] recognizes that this support does not constitute employment, is limited to the support detailed in this agreement, and will not give the Fellowship recipient a right to employment at IWMI upon successful completion of the Ph.D. program.

Planning

[name Fellowship recipient] will spend this period at [name university] for coursework and preparation of exams and will not be supported by IWMI.

[name Fellowship recipient] will be engaged in conducting Ph.D. research and will be supported financially by IWMI through a cost of living allowance and support for research costs as detailed below.

Financial Support

IWMI agrees to provide [name Fellowship recipient] the following support:

1. International travel
   [detail tickets and itinerary]
   The IWMI travel office will make travel arrangements and ticketing and payments for above will be made directly by IWMI.
2. Cost of living allowance
   [allowance as appropriate for the period agreed]
3. Research costs
   [detail as agreed]
4. Miscellaneous
   [detail if applicable]
