is something to talk about at IWMI. We all love parties and special
events. There is always an occasion to celebrate and opportunities
to interact with each other as a truly international community. Here
are some highpoints in our social calendar: |

TGIFs,
Staff Meetings and Parties
Most IWMI people are “party animals”, even
the most serious! Be prepared for lots of parties throughout
the year, ranging from informal cocktails at office, to fancy
dress ones like the Annual Staff Party. Generally based on a
theme, these parties punctuate our work year and bring sparkle
and splash into our busy lifestyles.

| Every last Friday of
the month, at Headquarters we have a TGIF (Thank God it’s
Friday!) where each department takes a turn at treating staff
to great food and drinks. Most often the TGIF is built around
a theme. It could be a “Caribbean Fiesta “or “Arabian
Nights” with décor and food to fit the theme. Before
the TGIF there is usually an all staff meeting where everyone
is kept informed about organizational moves and news, and a
live link to regional offices is provided so they too can be
a part of the meeting, ask questions and give their inputs. |

Annual
Research Meeting and Knowledge Fair
Once a year researchers from all IWMI’s regional
offices converge at HQ for the Annual Research Meeting (ARM)
and Knowledge Fair. This is a time for discussion, debate and
decisions on new research and future directions, as well as
an opportunity to showcase our

| work to both internal
and external audiences through the Knowledge Fair. Innovative
ways of sharing knowledge between different user groups, exciting
pathways for impact and stimulating group activities and presentations
characterize this event, which has- as its grand finale- a glittering
dinner on the lawn for Board members and IWMI staff. |

Welfare and Wildfire
Like to join our Welfare Society at IWMI HQ? Monthly membership
fees are just Rs. 200/- and you will be entitled to numerous
benefits such as, access to the in-house library of books, CDs
and DVDs, discounts on products purchased through the Welfare
Club and loans for members.
